Matthias Catón

Dr. Matthias Catón is a Program Director at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, one of Germany's leading business schools, where he is responsible for the Bachelor programs.

He has previously worked as an Associate Director at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, where he was responsible for the Global Redesign Initiative and helped launch the Network of Global Agenda Councils. Before joining the Forum he was a Program Officer at International IDEA, an international organization based in Stockholm, and a Research Associate and Lecturer at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Heidelberg.

Catón studied Political Science, Economics and Medieval and Contemporary History at the University of Heidelberg and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago. He holds a Master degree and a Doctorate from the University of Heidelberg and an Executive Master in Global Leadership, awarded by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with INSEAD, London Business School, The Wharton School and Columbia University.

In his different positions he has developed and driven innovative projects with a global reach, such as the Effective Party Assistance initiative at International IDEA and the Global Redesign Initiative at the World Economic Forum. Well trained in didactics, he has organized and run conferences, workshops, lectures, and other events for many different audiences. Catón has also published on a range of issues and has given speeches around the world.

Catón is part of the German Foreign Ministry's experts' roster for civilian personnel in peace operations and election observation and has served as an election observer for the OSCE in Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
