On 30 May the World Economic Forum launched the report of the Global Redesign Initiative, Everybody’s Business: Strengthening International Cooperation in a More Interdependent World at a Summit in Doha, Qatar. The report is the result of a year-long process, where experts from academia, governments, business and civil society discussed and developed ideas on how the international system could be changed to make it better suited to tackle global challenges ranging from climate change to development, economic growth and security.

The report presents 58 concrete proposals on how to improve global cooperation and global governance along nine themes:

  • Creating a Values Framework
  • Building Sustained Economic Growth
  • Strengthening the International Monetary and Financial System
  • Creating Employment, Eradicating Poverty and Improving Social Welfare
  • Managing and Mitigating Global Risks
  • Ensuring Health for All
  • Enhancing Global Security
  • Ensuring Sustainability
  • Building Effective Institutions in an Empowered Society

Chapters on each of the themes put the different proposals into perspective and highlight priorities. An introductory chapter, written by Richard Samans, Klaus Schwab and Mark Malloch Brown from the World Economic Forum, draws systemic conclusions.

The Global Redesign Summit took place on 30 and 31 May 2010 in Doha, Qatar. More than 450 participants from 60 countries---mostly experts and representatives from governments and international organizations---attended the event that has been described as a "marketplace of ideas".
